Bringing Greens Stream Back to Life: Supporting Corde with Dewatering

There's something quietly powerful about a project that gives a waterway back to the community around it. That's exactly what's happening right now along Greens Stream in Halswell, Christchurch - and Condor is proud to be playing a part in making it happen.
The Project
Corde is undertaking natural enhancement works to a section of Greens Stream adjacent to Riverstone Drive, on behalf of Christchurch City Council. It's a project that's as much about people as it is about the environment.
The scope includes reshaping approximately 110 metres of eroded stream banks in the western section, substantial native planting and habitat creation throughout the site, and the construction of new walking paths along both banks of the stream. Two new pedestrian footbridges will also be installed - one at the western end connecting to Halswell Road, and one at the eastern end linking through to Riverstone Drive - opening the streamside environment up for the community to enjoy for years to come.
The result won't just be a healthier waterway. It'll be a place people can walk alongside, cross, and connect with - a genuine green corridor in a growing part of the city.
Condor's Role with Dewatering
Works like these involve significant earthworks close to and around an active waterway, and that means water management is critical. Corde brought Condor in to supply pump solutions on site, ensuring water is moved efficiently, and the works can progress without interruption, whatever the conditions.
It's a straightforward role, but an important one. Reliable dewatering keeps a site moving, protects the surrounding environment, and ensures the team can focus on delivering quality work rather than managing unexpected water challenges.
Why Projects Like This Matter
Greens Stream is one of many urban waterways across Canterbury that have suffered from years of erosion, degraded banks, and limited ecological value. Projects like this, which combine habitat restoration, native planting, and improved community access, represent exactly the kind of investment that pays dividends for decades.
A Great Partnership
Corde has built a well-deserved reputation for delivering quality infrastructure across Canterbury, and their approach to ecological enhancement projects like Greens Stream reflects a genuine commitment to getting the details right, not just ticking boxes.
We're looking forward to seeing the finished result at Greens Stream - and we know the Halswell community will be too.
