When it comes to civil construction projects, things don't always go exactly to plan - and that's okay. What matters is having a supplier who can adapt quickly and keep the job moving. That's exactly what happened on a recent project in Christchurch, where Condor provided a comprehensive dewatering and wellpointing solution that evolved as the project did.

The Brief

The client came to us with a clear set of initial requirements: a 6-inch dewatering pump and a 6-inch bypass pump to manage groundwater on site. Knowing that conditions on the ground can be unpredictable, we also supplied a water treatment unit on standby, ready to handle any silt that might be encountered during excavation.

To ensure everything could be connected and commissioned without delays, we provided all associated hoses and fittings, including any adaptors needed to get the pumps integrated into the existing site setup. Having the right fittings on hand from the start means no waiting around for parts - just a smooth, efficient setup.

Adapting On the Ground: Providing Wellpointing Equipment

Once on site, it became clear that wellpointing would also be required to effectively manage the groundwater levels in the surrounding soil. This is a common discovery on projects involving deeper excavations, and it's exactly the kind of situation where having a well-stocked, experienced supplier makes all the difference.

Condor was able to step in quickly with a complete wellpointing package, including spears, header pipe, and swing arms.

The team installed the Condor wellpointing gear efficiently and were pleased with the performance and results.

Why It Matters

Dewatering and wellpointing are critical to keeping construction sites safe and workable. Without effective groundwater management, excavations can become unstable, timelines blow out, and costs escalate. Having a single, reliable supplier who can provide all the required equipment along with the hoses, fittings, and expertise to back it up simplifies the process significantly.

At Condor, we pride ourselves on being more than just an equipment hire company. We work alongside our clients to understand what's needed on site and ensure they have the right gear at the right time.
