We're proud to have partnered with Pritchard Civil and FM Drainage on a recent stream bypass project that showcases the power of intelligent water management technology.

The Challenge

Stream bypass projects require reliable, continuous pumping to divert water flow safely around sites. However, natural waterways have unpredictable flows that can change dramatically due to rainfall, weather events, or seasonal variations. Traditional pumping systems often run at constant speeds regardless of actual need, leading to wasted fuel, unnecessary wear on equipment, and potential safety risks during adverse weather.

Our Solution

For this project, we deployed our 6" Atlas Copco Dewatering + Sewer Pump equipped with a hydrostatic sensor. This system automatically adjusts pump operation based on real-time water flow conditions, creating a responsive solution that adapts to the environment.

The Benefits of Adaptive Technology

  • Fuel Efficiency: By automatically adjusting to varying water flows, the pump operates only as hard as necessary. This optimised operation translates to significant fuel savings throughout the project duration.

  • Enhanced Safety: During adverse weather conditions when streamflows can increase rapidly, the system responds automatically without requiring personnel to be on-site. This protects both the project and the team.

  • Reduced Manual Monitoring: Rather than constant manual checks and adjustments, this system handles flow variations autonomously, freeing up project teams to focus on other critical tasks.

Working Together for Better Outcomes

It was a pleasure working alongside Pritchard Civil and FM Drainage to deliver this efficient, smart infrastructure solution. By combining their expertise with our advanced pumping technology, we're able to protect New Zealand's waterways while ensuring projects stay on track.
