The Project

Tupua Horo Nuku is a landmark infrastructure project reshaping the coastline at Sunshine Bay, Eastbourne. Delivered by Hutt City Council, the project involves the construction of a 4.4km seawall and shared path along Marine Drive - strengthening coastal resilience for the Eastbourne community for generations to come.

Condor is proud to be supporting Sao Contractors on this iconic project, supplying dewatering and water treatment solutions in one of the most environmentally sensitive construction environments we've worked in.

The Dewatering & Water Treatment Challenge

Working just metres from Wellington Harbour, the Sunshine Bay site presents a dewatering challenge that demands precision and environmental responsibility in equal measure.

With pipe installation underway in close proximity to the harbour, managing that water effectively - and ensuring it is cleaned before it ever reaches the sea - is non-negotiable.

The challenge: Dewater an active trench excavation right at the water's edge, while ensuring every litre discharged meets strict environmental consent conditions. In a coastal environment this sensitive, there is simply no margin for error.

The Solution: Condor 4D Lite Pump & XXL Water Treatment System

Condor deployed two pieces of equipment to manage the challenge:

Condor 4D Lite Pump: handling dewatering duties in the tight coastal excavation, the 4D Lite is compact enough to operate effectively within the constraints of the site while reliably keeping the trench clear of groundwater.

Condor XXL Water Treatment System: all water drawn from the excavation passes through the XXL before discharge. The result speaks for itself: discharge consistently coming in well below consented limits, protecting the harbour and keeping the project on the right side of every environmental obligation.

Environmental Compliance, Built In

At Condor, our water treatment systems are designed to perform consistently even when site conditions change. Variable groundwater quality, shifting tides, and the pressures of an active construction programme are exactly the kind of conditions our equipment is built for.

The results at Sunshine Bay reflect what is possible when the right equipment is matched to the right site. Discharge well below consented limits, every time.

We're proud to support Sao Contractors in delivering a project that will serve the Eastbourne community for decades to come - and to do so without leaving a mark on the harbour it sits beside.
