Wellington Town Hall Strengthening Project

The Project

The Wellington Town Hall was closed to the public in 2013 due to it being earthquake prone.

With the building being over a century old, demolition was not an option due to its heritage status, so significant strengthening works commenced in 2019.

The Requirement

With the large amount of piling required and the semi tidal water table there was a significant amount of contaminated water which required treating.

The Solution

March Construction and Naylor Love engaged Condor to supply a turn-key water treatment system to assist with meeting the council discharge consent requirements.

Water samples were taken from the site and tested prior to designing a system to meet the site specific requirements.

The system proposed and proceeded with consisted of five chemical dosing pumps to effectively treat the Total Suspended Solids and pH of the discharge water and the system was set up with a dual discharge to provide the option of discharging to the storm water network or sewer.

The Result

Condor staff oversaw the commissioning of the system and the relevant onsite staff were given training on the operation of the system.

The end result being the contractors met environmental compliance as set out by the client.
